System Parts

Hanging Post / Column

Usually massive steel columns (e.g., 200x200mm or larger) anchored to the foundation. They support the entire weight of the gate.

Leading Leaf

The panel attached to the post.

Trailing Leaf

The outer panel that folds inward.

Bearing Hinges

Heavy-duty sealed bearing hinges located between the post and the leaf, and between the two leaves.

Folding Mechanism / Transmission Arm

The critical linkage (often located on top) that forces the second leaf to fold as the first leaf opens.

Hydraulic Ram

Preferred for heavy gates or cold climates. Very powerful and smooth.

Electro-Mechanical Motor
